@Dubblegum19 It dawned on me that you were probably referring to the bogus "Migs" in Top Gun, at least they were F5 Tigersharks, which are the Red Flag aggressor aircraft. We had a few T38s(2-seater version of F5) at Grand Forks, I think the BUFF pilots enjoyed the opportunity to fly something a little faster and more agile, about like trading a Mack Truck for a Lamborgini.
@Dubblegum19 The lamest Mig Imitation I've ever seen was in "Iron Eagles II," when they used F4 Phantoms. Even worse, an early scene in the movie showed the ersatz Mig effortlessly outmaneuvering and knocking out an F16. That could only happen if the Falcon driver was fresh out of flight school or fast asleep.
It finally dawned on me that the "Migs" in this movie were swept-wing F-84s. I've seen worse Mig imitations. The Cold war was definitely on at the time of this movie's release, so we couldn't say, "Comrade Kruschov, can we borrow a few Mig-15s to make a movie?"

@usafvet100 They are not Tigersharks, this is de name of the F-20, the Top Gun adversaries were F5E Tiger II

The "crash" scene @ 7:40 was real enough, but theairplane was a F-100 Super Saber, NOT a F-86!

@usafvet100 Yep, F-84 is right. Worse Mig imitations? Mig-28, for example? :-)
