For my sister Katie on her Birthday!! (a family tradition)

Today is my sister Katie's birthday!! If you have followed my life and/or work at all you will know who Katie is. There are so many stories/thoughts/blogs/pics about her. She is the current that has run through my life since day one, my beautiful inspiration and my blood. She is the light of our family and the heart of everything we aspire to. This week I am going to get to share a few VERY special and personal moments about my sister including a video I have been holding onto for over four months now from her wedding where I had the privilege to sing to her and Murris...That song, just a hint of an idea on that day is now completed one of my favorites to sing, even if it is only to myself and the band for a little longer.

This video is from my Mom's birthday but something about it really captures my sister and my family. This is a tradition my Mom has kept going since we were kids. I can remember being a teenager being awoken to the blasting sounds of this song and my Mom singing at the top of her lungs. I wait for her call every year, wait for those opening notes and words...I think its the thing I most look forward to on my special day. So as I sit here and we get ready to call my sister and embarrass ourselves in our own special way, I am posting this video. To me, when I think of my family, for all we are and all we are not; most of all, these moments are the ones that define us.

I don't know where my Dad is in this video but believe me, he is even weirder! ha...

Lastly, to show you who my sister is, in lieu of a gift from her husband on her first birthday as his bride, they pledged 300 dollars towards my new album and will be getting the first of all the lyrics, producer credit and as many t-shirts as she wants. Murris (her husband) wears his "Jake Walden" tshirt almost every day. yes, he is supported, but also he's such a "guy" that I think since it fits and is comfy he would wear it every day if he could. They also said I am to shamelessly plug the pre order/fundraising because there are two weeks left to reach the goal and my ultimate dream of this record and tour which wouldn't be possible without everyone's support.

They are such amazing people...and they are mine....and for that, through it all, no matter what I am thankful and so excited for them.
