Apocalypse - The Second World War - Episode 6 - Inferno
This six-part series tells the epic story of World War II, providing an insight into the experiences of the millions of soldiers who fought across countries and continents, and the moving stories of the millions of civilians who saw their homes destroyed and lives disrupted by the cataclysm of war.

Using original footage, including home movies, from World War II, Apocalypse: The Second World War presents a chilling and sometimes confronting look at the horrors of the war. The footage has been transformed into colour using digital techniques, giving a new perspective on one of the most significant events of the last century.

Episode 6: Inferno

Made up entirely of original 35mm, 16mm and 8mm films, this series includes rare footage of the Polish officers' massacre at Katyn, the inhumane treatment of French soldiers taken prisoner by the Nazis. The films provide viewers with a ground-breaking portrait of WWII that depicts not only its complexity, but the perspectives of both its victims and its victors.

  • @svennyCmeyer I think that the Red tanks, airplanes, and combat troops up and down Berlin tells you that your captured. But by the spring of 45 It was no longer France and Britain defending Poland instead it was the United Nations against Hitler after 6 yrs of fighting.I think they should have gone after Hitler. When nazis caught commisars they didn't have trials they just shot.

  • @nowdid Is that really a serious question? think about it for a second. If you captured an enemy city, would you rather raise your flag over the guys hidden, underground bunker, or the big building that signifies their city...

  • Omg, how can humanity stoop so low. ;(

  • The U.N. was the creation of the "one world, global government".

Putting in place the creation of a superpower unseen since the Holy Roman Empire.

  • I never understood why the Red Army went after the Reichstag,Germany's center was Hitler not the Legislator. They should have gone after the Bunker.Maybe if you were attacking London or Washington you would capture Parliament and Congress instead of No 10 or the White House

  • the russian woman guiding traffic is cool!

  • @Cortarelcuello There's a difference between war crimes and hate crimes.... stalin's purges for example were based off of politics when hitler's were based off of someone being killed for simply having a grandfather who was jewish and no matter whether he was a large contributer to society and a model citizen. It simply made no sense. There is no way to justify the holocaust

  • the Russian woman directing traffic at the end is hot.

  • @hahstom Well, thanks for having me. It's... err... different. :)

  • @bokixxx welcome to nazi germany. making starved people dig their own grave and shoot them afterwards.
