After learning about what wonders transistors can do, on Peter Edwards' site www.casperelectronics.com, I used a 2N3904 transistor to modify this pedal. Feedback from the circuitry of the pedal is fighting with the audio signal from the guitar, resulting in cascading square waves and distorted harmonies. Using the transistor to control the effect makes it so the feedback within the circuit is only occurring while I'm playing audio into the pedal. So once I stop strumming, so does the feedback. It's a really simple modification but sounded so awesome that I didn't even install a switch to turn the effect on or off, because I just use it all the time. The shitty microphone on my laptop doesn't do it justice, in my opinion. I also just noticed the lonely LM386 in the foreground of the video in front of the pedal. So sad.

  • poor 386...go on give it a good home....in a pedal...

  • run a drum machine through it!

  • I just started modding one with the same resistor , did you use the guide from casper electronics? my question for you actually is how did you pass the wires to the front of the board? my 20 gauge wire have no room to go around from the back..

  • this has me thouroghly impressed...sorry for my shitty spelling.......

  • Guess you screwed up your Boss pedal. Wud b better if you had built a pedal.
