A rare recording of the OBC of Pacific Overtures (1976). The Musical (music/lyrics: Stephen Sondheim book: John Weidman) was nominated for 10 Tony awards (won two) and 7 Drama Desk awards (won two). Featuring Mako, James Dybas, Timm Fujii, Alvin Ing, Patrick Kinser-Lau, Isao Sato, Sab Shimono, Mark Syers, Ricardo Tobia, Gedde Watanabe, Fusaka Yoshida.

Part 6 of 20.

On a couple of parts there is an occasional VHS distortion/drop outs, please excuse this!

  • Gotta love that boat!

  • "Americans are easy. They shout and you shout louder." :)

  • @AtLastOnTheGround she's the shogun's wife, who is entertaining the court with music. but the shogun's mother shuts her up. and it's pretty comical :)

  • @SeryiVolk2009 and so sinister for me who indeed often drink chrysanthemum tea - just some tasty tea, and the shogun...dead at last.

  • "Chrysanthemum Tea" is a piece of sardonic genius.

    Utterly brilliant,Mr Sondheim!

  • I love the set

  • He's supposed to be the shogun's wife

  • One thing I love is how this show turns stereotypes around. Asians playing whites who speak in the tense pidgin English that always gets assigned to Asians. They even greet eachother with "Please hello!" "Hello please!"

  • the shogun's infant wife, who's just a dumb child playing
