  • I just got one that is about a foot long not counting the tail. I cannot get her out of the cage and I haven't quite figured out the best way to get her out without her feeling nervous. Any suggestions? She is very aggressive.

  • honistly my main sugestion is to get use to it because its going to pritty much stay that way. i still get whipped and lunged at almost every time i go in the cage.. its all about figuring out ways to build trust.. exactly how to do it is up to you but dont get your hopes up. the very high % of niles stay that way.. thats one of the reasons why they really are one of the worst choices for a pet monitor

  • yeah... your tripin. I dont believe that ive ever heard or read about anyone being killed by a monitor in America.. ever. as far as serious injuries go i know a few people that have been sent to the hospital for a crock monitor bite.. but thats about the only species in the pet trade i would give that kind of credit to.

  • Ive been having a hard time taming my nile ive been using bath tube thing you suggested and he calms down after a while but soon as i put him back in his home he freaks out again.

  • yeah so dose mine... welcome to the joys of owning a Nile monitor

  • Though few will ever understand, there's just something indescribable about having a vicious creature love you...

  • umm don't ever lay a lizard on their back, it actually collapses their lungs and forces them to sufficate. so actually you are not "putting him to sleep" you're sufficating him...

  • @mitsospower12 its a good taming technique to have them in a safe place where they can walk around you and learn that you arent going to hurt them.

  • i pick mine up just infront of its back legs and let it "run" from hand to hand without it really going anywhere lol i only ever get bit if im nervous or my fingers are in front of its face :P but i love mine already and ive only had it for a few hours

  • @IWestledABearOnce your a fuckin uneducated dumbass

  • my nile moniter is bigger than that by 4 inches or something like that and he is mean as heck

  • my only suggestion is many many many hrs with yr nile, i rescued mine from some fool n he was a physco wen first had him but now after endless hrs of work hes a big softie, doesnt bite or whip will even take food from my hand too, loves to sprawl out nxt to me n watch tv but i think ive been quite lucky as this isnt thier usual attitude

  • Ive been having trouble taming my iguana. I know this is a different lizard but maybe somebody here can help. He buffs up when i get close to him in his en closer, but when i get really close tho him he freaks out and runs back and fourth through the cage but when I get him out and hold him he is fine and calms down. Im now able to sit him down out side while he is on his leash and pet him, without him trying to run. So i guess thats a plus. Any tips on taming him more?

  • Tamer than mine... I tried this and it didn't work he just was trying to get out the bath lol.

  • my nile was only an ass win u got him out once he was out he was vary nice i could take him enywhere

  • My Nile monitor is VERY tame because the only time we put her in her cage is at night. We let her wander around the apartment during the day, which makes her much happier because she's not locked up all day. She can choose whether to approach us, and she's learned to walk into the kitchen when she's hungry and sit and wait for food.

  • @fluffyfirebird well hell be put to sleep soon ya know
