@jricha36 Being detached and loving your children are two different things. And so is being detached and being responsible as a parent. It is hard but as long as a parent conduct him or herself gently in every situation regarding his or her children, one can be a good Buddhist parent.

I was about to write expressing my positive emotions regarding this talk, but I realized that I understanded that the truly positive thing was not the talk itself, but my realisation of the fact that I am seeing reality through my own filters.I now thank you for this talk as it helped me realised many things I didn't realize before.
I am willing to put these things into the practice.
May all beings be at ease

Going to meditate now :-)
How do you live a detached life when you are raising young children.

@jricha36 see things with wisdom and you will not attach to them. all beings go according to their deeds, there is no need to attach even to your children, as they will fare according to what good and bad things they do and have done. You have a chance to help them, that is a positive thing and not related to attachment.
