A ringtail possum successfully defends its young in its nest from a hungry and determined Australian Raven (crow). Taken during the early hours of the morning in Albert Park in St Kilda, Melbourne.

  • For those with doubt there were at least 3 baby possums in the trunk of the tree near where the ringtail was and the crow was trying to get at them. It took a while for me to realise this but thats definitely what this possum was trying to do - defend its young.

  • Nope...

Opossums are found in the Americas, possums are Australian.

This looks like a ringtail possum.

  • Yes it was cause it isnt brown

  • nice

  • i meant that it sleeps in, not that it keeps its baby's in

  • Possums dont have a nest with young in it.. they have pouches and they carry their babies around for a year or so.

  • Was it an Opossum?

  • Damn! Those baby possums are tasty and nurtitious. Better luck next time, Corvus Corronoides!!!

  • Nice move from the possum at 1:16

  • Go possum!
