A ringtail possum successfully defends its young in its nest from a hungry and determined Australian Raven (crow). Taken during the early hours of the morning in Albert Park in St Kilda, Melbourne.
For those with doubt there were at least 3 baby possums in the trunk of the tree near where the ringtail was and the crow was trying to get at them. It took a while for me to realise this but thats definitely what this possum was trying to do - defend its young.

Possums dont have a nest with young in it.. they have pouches and they carry their babies around for a year or so.
