I was so grateful that I had taught my dog this cue when we were playing around near the agility equipment at the dog park. My dog climbed up an A-frame while i was bent over picking up his poop. He was too scared to climb down it, and I couldn't carry him down because he was too high and the a frame was not very wide. I was able to get him to refocus on me and perform his "touch" with my hand at the bottom of the A-frame with his reward a good game of fetch away from the agility stuff.

When I stick my hand out, my puppy nips at my fingers. How do I prevent that?

Is it ok to say it twice? I know I'm supposed to be patient but what if she didn't hear it?

I'm afraid that is normal puppy behaviour!

But its good going to a class and so you can teach how to not carry this behavior into adult hood.

You could try doing a training routine to calm him done and help him focus, using a bit of kibble and just get him to sit on command (give a bit of kibble then down etc. I do this with mine, but I'm not sure if yours is a little young still for this, worth a try though.

Do you have any pointers that would help us with this behaviour? Is he scared or he's just being a hunter?
