  • Dan Anderson is one of the greatest martial artist I have ever met. In 1985 I was a student of Robert Edwards who introduced me to Dan. I have watched him as a teacher and some of the excellent students he produce, achieve much success. If Mr Edwards wasn't my teacher, Mr Anderson would have been.

  • @ironpalmlong Thank you. Robbie was one of the pacific Northwest greats AND a good friend of mine. You had a great teacher!

  • I have your book "freestyle karate" and its one of my favorites. Very cool tactics and stratagies. I would love to have done a seminar with you ..........but I am very far away.

  • @l2a3sterling How far away are you?

  • i can beat this guy in sparring. What are the odds this will work? everyone knows they have to step "back" if they want to switch legs, not "forward", into the attack...

  • "What are the odds?" Worked great for me for many years. "Everyone knows?" That's how you get caught by tactics.

  • I don't know Dan, but he AKWAYS came across like a guy who would take you aside work with you on stuff just because you asked him. He just has that "nice guy"vibe that is so needed, but sorely lacking today in the martial arts. I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet and train with him.

  • Dans groundbreaking book had sparring principles that easily rivaled other big names like Joe Lewis and Bruce Lee IMO. A pity that he didn't get the visibility he deserved. The book is a CLASSIC

  • SUPERDAN ANDERSON wrote THE definitive book on point soaring back in the day when he was a little thinner with a head of curly hair! LOL! apparently he's still got the right stuff!

  • completely unrelated... I'm a yellow belt and i'm already learning brown belt sparing stances and other martial arts (we are getting more martial arts being built into our style) and way when i'm actually allowed to spar maybe i will try this so thank you =)

  • The first one to say he can beat Mr. A is the first one to lose.

As a former student, I can attest to the fact that he will jump in, score 5 points, eat half a sandwich, score 5 more points, finish the sandwich, and then jump out.......

all while you're still waiting for the first offensive move, not knowing you've already lost.

Mr. A is the most humble, easy going teacher in the world.

Always remember, if he can do it, anybody can do it.
