Did you get the USB 2.0 enclosure? And how much is the price with and without that USB 2.0 enclosure? Thanks in advance. ;)

Hey optikalefxx, which generation is your Mac and what's the difference between the drive you installed and the one that came with it?

@stlallstar I have the newest 2011 model with the i7. The one I put in has a read and write speed of about 250MB/s. The one that comes with apple is only about 97MB/s

@stlallstar now a days the new OCZ vertex 3 drives are over 500MB/s read and write speeds.

Nice tutorial!
I'm looking around for an SSD in my macbook pro for a while now. I looked up the caddy/optibay on the MCE website, but the shipment equals almost the price of the product. Now I'm wondering if the caddies sold on ebay are as good as this one over here? These sold on ebay are definitely cheaper, as well as the shipment. It's about one third the prize.
Any advice?
Thx!

@Q852 hard to say since i used the optibay one. I mean, it worked great for me, so if they are cheap enough, no harm in trying it out. just make sure they specifically say they are for your generation macbook

I read somewhere (Anandtech maybe?) that third party SSDs sometimes have compatibility problems with the MBP, have you run into any problems?
