  • The best tenor ever was Pavarotti, the second best was Peter Dvorsky. Dvorsky was even the best Rodolfo (La Boheme) ever.

  • @1mizu23

    Wow!

And how do you guge it?

    but meters or santimeters?...

    :)

  • Very sad that Larin daed today. Another great musician who left us.

With all the criticysm about his voice and intarpritation (And I have a lot), he was a very good tenor and musician!

Listen to all the performence of this Turandot with him, and you will discover a really wonderfull artist in all the sceens, duets and ansambels.

Thank you Sergey Larin. I will always remember you and listen to youre works!

  • My friend saw him 2 days ago in Bratislava and Sergei was fine, talking about plans and nobody, but NOBODY could imagine that he will be dead in a day.

    R.I.P.

  • why exactly he died?

  • how paul potts makes it into these conversations is unbelievabe... i thought he sang from the heart on BGT, but it ends there. and did someone say "way better than pavarotti".....r u kiddin me.... larin is good...but please.... and just my personal opinion, they need to hold the last note....it's much more dramatic....i hate when they cut it off..

  • agree with you. the last note should be longer. Listen to Bonisolli as calaf.... :))

  • I also have Rusalka with Serguej Larin and Renee Fleming. Very good!

  • I have that DVD. and it's very beautiful. A joy! A jewel!

  • Sorry! i disn't know he had died! A very good singer! What a loss!

  • I heard Sergey Larin at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, in Evgeny Onegin and Smetana's Bartered Bride. He was an excellent singer with a sweet, dark voice. He was not a spinto, though. He was a lyric tenor.

I love his Chandos CDs of Russian art songs. They are worthy of being compared to recordings by Lemeshev or Vinogradov.

  • perfect voice for the Calaf role in this aria !! BRAVO.

  • Sergei is just heavenly divine in this beautiful production!

  • I was so sad to hear that Larin died, too. He was supposed to come to Baltimore last season to sing Alvaro in "Forza" opposite his ex-Turandot, Giovanna Casolla. He was replaced by Antonello Palombi, probably because of his illness. I thought Larin had a big enough voice for Calaf, and he'd be better off singing Otello or even some Wagner; alas, it will never be.

  • Could somebody upload this Turandot at the Forbidden City?? Pls!!! I think it's the best production I have never seen!!
