i'm a drummer and i think it's a shame that there's SO much shit talking on here. I don't believe that you can know it all and that those that claim to, wish they did. I also believe that you can learn something from everybody no matter the skill level. 'Traditional' vs. 'Matched grip'.... it's personal taste. I use both. They each have their own application. Remember, drumming *IS* an art form, not a competition.

remember -- it's NOT "practice makes perfect" -- it's "practicing perfection produces perfection" -- if you can feel tension, you're not practicing it right and will miss it entirely. Practice ONLY as fast as you can with ZERO TENSION ANYWHERE! - wriists, forearms, shoulders -- and only take up the speed gradually -- listen to and read your body (not your drum sound) FIRST -- and pretty soon the drum sound will start just falling out of your hands -- almost like magic!!! Best Wishes to all!

there is also a good youtube of Joe Morello showing the combination of wrist impulse and finger catch-and-deploy -- very core to his playing. Btw -- by 'authentic' part -- I mean that the first/best benefits of Moeller are the wrist training -- highly useful for non-rebound surfaces; if you miss this you probably don't get "Moeller". But it doesn't have to stop at the wrists -- it can be imparted to the fingers for however you choose to use fingers -- that doesn't make it not-Moeller.
