Recently RenderStream completed testing one of its VDACTr8 systems, which utilizes eight GTX 580 GPUs, on V-Ray RT, a GPU accelerated renderer.

The video above covers in detail the speed improvement one can attain by using V-Ray RT in the activeshade viewport. This allows for extremely rapid visual feedback on your model, lighting and shader production.

Additionally, we demonstrate how V-Ray RT can be used to render out draft/final animation sequences significantly faster than using the CPU based renderer.

We also wanted to measure how the performance scales when running systems with 1-8 GPUs. We can confirm that performance scales linearly as you add more GPUs. To measure this we used the same scene, enabled each GPU one by one and noted the Kpaths/second value in the activeshade viewport.

With the rendering revolution really beginning to take shape and GPU accelerated renderers rapidly advancing, you owe it to yourself to consider a RenderStream VDAC solution. As we noted in the video, we observed our VDACTr8 to be up to 68 times faster than dual 6-core X5680 CPUs.
