One of the last of a dying breed of cinema, in 1979 The Evictors helped usher in the new horror genre formula of the early to mid 1980s. Of special note is actor Michael Parks (Texas Ranger Earl McGraw in From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, and Grindhouse). Jessica Harper and Vic Morrow also starred. My father, John, was Assistant Director and Art Director for this one.

  • the house is located in jonesville, texas. it's right near the texas-louisiana border, about thirty minutes away from shreveport.

  • @magellan0999 Where is the house located? In Louisiana or Texas?

  • "Nobody's ever gonna live in our house." One of the best horror movie line executions EVER! :)

  • Another film never released on dvd yet!,looks like a cross between 'Burnt Offerings/Don't Look In The Basement..

  • I have the Vestron VHS.

  • Cool! I remember the house well! It was a WRECK when we got to it - I found an old book I love, Hansel and Gretel from around 1915 before the house was cleaned out - still have it. My father wired the walls with explosives for the gun fire. My mother had to get replacement glass for the back kitchen door for about five takes every time it was broken out - something she got very frustrated with. Nice to know it's still there - when did you buy it?

  • This was filmed in my house!

  • Pretty entertaining thriller from back in the day. First saw this one on vhs. Nice surprise ending!

  • I saw this on TV once, when I was 14. But my sister was in the room and my aunt was being a jerk and said I had to change it. I've never had a chance to see it all.

Thanks for posting this, though. It helps.

  • i remember the evictors. especially the black and white scene in the begining of the film. when they had the shoot out.
