the song is about a spirtialist community discovered by a medium from the origial Cassada ,NY,he was lead by his seneca native american spirt guid,to where a huge vortex or portal is in the swamps of florida.now it is a spirtialist community where tarot readings and seances are common and the occasinal orb photograhy tours are part of what make this plac so special and unique that tom petty would feel inclined to write about it,as hav i and others touched by its magic.

@june21stgem, I think that Young and Petty are similar in that they are both deeply ingrained in the traditions of mainstream , traditional American rock. A criticism of both is their lack of hits outside their fanbase. I would agree that Young enjoys the mantle of eccentric, Petty that of craftsman.

@garylongden I have to disagree, petty is nothing like neil young.. Neil young is a strange guy, with a lot of great music, petty is an everyday guy, with nothing but great music..

A great song, I have it on vinyl ! Petty is like neil Young, he keeps ploughing on, and you have to be careful not to miss some of the stuff that might ottherwise fall by the wayside.
