I will detail my feelings for Dark Samus by paraphrasing my favorite Monty Python skit.

@maconwriter I always thought that, inside the suit, it looked more esque of Metroid Prime essence. With the armour making it look female. Though I do understand your point and it does make sense.

@Zaccarato that's the actual fact as defined by nintendo and retro. aslo, the scan says "she" so most people don't question it. before its defeat, metroid prime, like all metroids, had no gender. by using femal DNA and using it to build a body, cell by cell, the dna in every one, that's what makes it female.

@maconwriter Hm, what defines it as Female, though. The DNA? I still think that only the shell looks Female (Because the Phazon suit looked like that), while whatever gender Metroid Prime was survives inside the shell.

@Zaccarato actually, you're not far off. the actuality of it is that by absorbing the phazon suit and samus's DNA, it became dark samus, a (female) entity that is the surviving form of metroid prime.

@zomfGuy Another theory I have on "What Dark Samua is" is that we have to remember that it was basically formed from the dying Metroid Prime and Samus's Phazon suit in MP1, technically, the suit is just a shell, with the essence of the Metroid Prime inside, alive, in some shape or form. Dark Samus only looks female because the suit that it absorbed was designed like that. The actual gender would be that of Metroid Prime, whatever that may be.
