Cybernet is a supersmart computer network, that the government developed to smartly control all its weapons. What they didn't know that cybernet, was smarter than they thought, and was self aware, so it started war against humans (starting with nuclear strike).

What i don't get is why is john connor a man in this film whith his dad rese(a boy) when john connor is not ment to be born yet. Cos i thought this film was set in the present time?(as far as terminator goes)

In 2018 John Connor is a man, and his father is still a boy. He knows his destiny and from his mother in the previous parts, he knows that in the future he is going to send a man from the future to be his father. Because he knows that, once he found a guy with the name of Kyle Reese (and he knows that this is the name of his father), he just protects him and sends him back in time, so that the past becomes true and the future (which is the present at that time) happens.

@TheHango In the future the world is taken over by machines. There is one man, by the name of John Connor who is basically the hope to end the mass destruction and assasination of all humans. Now the machines are smart so they plan and want to kill John Connor- SOO they send a termanator machine back to the past to kill John Connors mother, Sarah Connor, so that John was never born. John sent a man Kyle Reese(johns father) to the past to protect sarah from being killed. I hope i made clearer:)
