@Aeschylus Is it out of print? That's terrible!
I remember the voice as rather faster myself, though I think i have this tape somewhere, so will check

mystical and aloofly unmixed self-reflection) ends up drowning in an emotionally frigid soul/ consciousness that could have simply lifted its own stagnation with the 'thought-fish' byproduct of a life that is able to achieve a profound "mythic" narrative of identity by marrying one's reality to their spiritual/artistic reality.

Ted Hughes' take on this allegory takes on new dimensions of meaning when you've already read his "Shakespeare and the Goddess of Complete Being"; through some of the symbolism he treats there, it's my guess that Echo represents the incessant and undulating aspect of thought/feeling/memory in the process of conscious engagement with reality, Narcissus then fulfilling his role as the foolish person of poetic temperament who, infatuated with the pleasure of pure contemplation (accessible by

Most beautiful.
Thanks are deserved indeed for uploading these gems. Hughes' version of Ovid is a book I come back to year after year. I find it a sheer joy to read; to hear Hughes himself orate his work is even more of a pleasure.
With this and the other stuff you've uploaded, you've brought a veritable treasure trove of culture to us all: a sanctuary amidst the dross of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Hope you keep it coming.

@DumbAndDeracinated That's very nice of you to say so. I'm glad you like what I've got so far; I'll be putting more stuff up when I get a chance. (Děkuji, to je od vás velice milé. A Pozdravy z Ameriky!)

@Aeschylus Glad to hear that! I'll be subscribing for sure. Thanks for replying.
I'm very surprised to hear you reply in Czech! Have you spent some time in the Czech Republic before?

@DumbAndDeracinated That's great; I don't get the chance very often to put stuff up, but I do every so often and I've got some good things in mind (some in English, some in Greek). As for the Czech Republic, I've never been, though have long wanted. I just saw you were there and thought it would be nice to greet you in Czech, so I ran it through a computer translator! :)

reat that you've uploaded these. I taped some of them on radio when they were aired but lost the tape. The voice is slower than it should be, for some reason

@grobbledonk These are from the CD (which is out of print, and it's a wonder I chanced upon it: at the Oxford town library, if memory serves). Do you think you might be remembering the voice as faster than it actually was? Or, maybe you're right; it's the only recording I've heard. Anyway, thank you for commenting and I'm glad you liked it.
