@benji3eb I don't. I'm actually not a fan of the newer rules, so I basically quit watching & recording this "new" era of beach volleyball. I would watch once in awhile but never recorded any of it.
@LLee93 I'm new to volleyball, but after playing the last 4 years and learning the new game, I'm a fan of the old. Well, certain aspects. I'm not of fan of the let-serve, it's nearly impossible to defend and luck when it trickles over. However, I'm not of fan of the timed games, so side-out scoring seems like a better compromise, though I do see it gives the weaker team an advantage. What was the purpose of changing the game, did the players want a change?
@benji3eb They changed the game because they(FIVB) thought it would make it more fan friendly & be better for TV. The majority of the players were against it, but what could they really do. The short court was supposed to create more rallies, but I personally have not seen a huge increase. What the new rules did do was push the smaller players out of the game & make it easier for the big slow guys. I'm 5'8" & the big court helps guys like me. We can move the ball around easier.
@LLee93 Even Karch talked about that last year, when he went back to the old rules, on the Corona tour. The let serve is the dumbest rule in sports! My idol, Adam Johnson, had one of the best jump serves of all time. When he tried to come back, from injury, he said he quit jump serving because he had so much less court to work with. That sums up my displeasure right there. To me, it'd be like cutting a football field down to 80yds & trying to tell everybody that it's still the same game.
Do you have any video from the new era of the AVP, like the last several years before it went under?
