This is part of a performance of bugaku, ancient Japanese court music (gagaku) accompagnied by dance. This art developed and flourished during the Heian period but is still sometimes performed today. It was recorded during 2008 Spring Grand Festival at Meiji Jingu in Tokyo.
i love how every single movement is important, like ever head turn, every arm gesture, it's all a part of the performance and is very important. i also love watching Geiko and Maiko perform, the way the kimono is used as a costume adn as a prop sometimes, simply beautiful :D (im part japanese :D gotta love my background <3)

Senshuraku is a kangen piece (both Oshiki- and Banshiki).
This is the last 5 lines of Banshiki-Rindai (look at the "hats"...this is the Rindai-hat :D)

If I`m not wrong, the piece performed here is Senshuraku (Music for a Thousand Autumns).
