You just aren't paying attention, fast asleep. Trane mixed soul and spirituality with technical intensity. The jazz industry is in sad shape but musicians are alive, well, and vital. You may want to check out guitartist Ben Monder...pianist Robert Glasper and his trio (controversial group but I love it), bassist Avishai Cohen & trio...not enough space here for a real list...
