I think it's about two people in a relationship, but they know they're not going anywhere. One leaves the other to find their own success, but still has feelings for the other person. And even though they know they can't abandon their new life, they want to show the other person that they will always be in touch no matter what.

I think its like, dying is dancing, the other guy didnt step in because he didnt feel that it was his time to "Dance" just yet. when you feel you're good and ready to, you just dance and get judged to see if you're ready to go to the "Higher ups" and well by not dancing he wasnt apart of the judgement and got left behind.
