Introduction to doing safe squats on the Smith machine. This is great for people who may be afraid to do a full squat. This is a much safer approach done on the Smith machine. The machine helps you to balance the weight and the bench helps you to do down lower. This targets the quads, buttocks, and hamstrings. Keep you head up and your back straight at all times. Wearing a weight belt is also a good idea for back support. See part 2 for the actual squats performed.

  • Wish my gym would chuck the smith and get the old squat rack back

  • Amen! Smith machines are completely useless, because as the poster of this video readily admits, "the machine helps you to balance the weight".
