  • @cornbreadjoe strong winds from blowing the food of the table. And that's pretty much the state of affairs at the moment regarding my home made bird table. It is extensively used by great tits, by robins, by jays, and sparrows. I have also observed visiting the garden wood peckers, collared doves, blackbirds and long tailed tits.

  • Latest developments re the bird table: the squirrels still haven't attempted to mount the table. Wood pigeons however were landing on the table and not only gobbling up all the food but also crapping profusely ( as apparently only a wood pigeon can!) all over the table and any food. So I had to install netting wire round the table with gaps high enough to allow only small birds and not wood pigeons to access the table and food. Also I had to add slats of wood round edges of the table to prevent

  • @soulwam Surprisingly no. They did try jumping off the roof of a nearby garden shed and from the branches of a nearby tree-til I moved the table out of reach.

  • Will they not learn to climb up inside the centre?
