I thought the pennies were only turned into a gold color, not into actual gold. You were just kidding when you said it took you years of research to discover the formula, weren't you? I mean, is it really possible to turn Cu into Au? I highly doubt it. Awesome experiment though.

I think when you heated the pennies in the beaker they got coated with zinc, then when you heated them the zinc alloyed with the copper and made brass.

I did this in my school I was the only student to get it. Your process was different and it works better, mine was about 90% gold not all of it.

probably with a gold salt.. but then you would need gold to make gold salts (if its even possible? :S) so... why.. do that? maybe its possible to make another metal into silver.. you ever heard about the reaction between sodium hydroxide and magnesium? Mg + NaOh = Na + MgOH that means it makes sodium metal (the alkali metal) and magnesium hydroxide.. (: i wanna try it.. there videos about it and all.. but it takes alot of time to make a bit of magnesium to me.. its also really rare :/

If we could all turn copper into gold we all be doing by now. What he did was was boil the *n*l . After that the so called "gold" is just a nice gold/brass color V_V. IF only I can my hands on *n*l
