This video series is a lecture style series with little video component. This is not intended to show "detailed" steps of functions but designed to serve as an overall guideline in getting set up online from conception to completion. I have other channels at http://youtube.com/user/QuicSite that go over detailed functions within Joomla1.5, and this channel will have more coming in terms of Cpanel functions and other specific affiliate tasks.

  • Love it! I am using a mac...

I am not a developer or a web designer...

If i download mamp, joomla, and create a webserver on my desktoop, why do I have to create mysql database? I used webside tonight on godaddy and I just want to build a website with seo, html, css access. why do i need mysql database? I don't need to touch the front end of things. i used iweb on my mac and my site was up over night!

  • Hi Jackies35. Joomla, other CMS's and dynamic websites in general need databases. Otherwise EVERY page you create (like an .html site) will also have a corresponding file. This gets messy and is inefficient. Also backing up databases are easy, not to mention they are VERY FAST at getting and storing data. GoDaddy's Website Tonight, I personally feel should be illegal - it is full of limitations, not dynamic and only costs clients money. Do it right and use a CMS, you'll be glad you did! :D
