Children of Mother Nature,
As many of you may know, a friend and I ventured to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan this past weekend to pursue a dream that has been brewing since we were sophomores. The dream became a reality in a weekend that provided us with the call of the wild as we mushed our way through the Hiawatha National Forest along with our part Native American guide, Paul. Living amongst the animals with no cell phone reception, no internet, no electricity, nor hot water, it was the adventure of a lifetime.
Arriving late Thursday evening/Friday morning due to the fact that our destination had no address (just some physical landmarks such as turn left after the third tree), we settled in at base camp after being greeted by our guide Paul. We awoke early to prepare the dogs, learn the basics, get some breakfast in our stomachs, and hit the trails for a day of riding throughout the Hiawatha National Forest. After one full day of some intense dog sledding, our guide made dinner and we made our way into town.
The second day was filled with snowmobiling throughout the states trails as we got a hold of the last two rentable sleds in town. Amongst riding throughout the UP for 12 hours that day, we did some hiking, discovered some ice caves, and enjoyed our last day up north. Taking in all of the beauty that the wilderness had to offer, it is no doubt that God is the greatest decorator of all time.
"It is no doubt that God is the greatest decorator of all time..." Sweet.
