Steely Dan's Peg. Chuck Rainey's bass line was transcribed in BassPlayer mag. last month. This is mostly Chucks part with some added Tom Barney licks and a few of my own little things....mostly mistakes ! This bass line is a great challange and I'll keep working on it, but this was the best take I did today. I'm using an Ibanez ATK 305 courtesy of Ibanez basses

My favorite section on the BASS line is between 0:40-0:44 (whatever the ACTUAL NOTES on the song are) and between 1:04-1:08.
Anywhere else in this song where that section of the verse comes in is just so cool. It's not a simple 3 note phrase like at certain other parts of the song. In these sections the bass player let's his fingers do some serious walking.
Just like the rhythm in the drums just before the guitar solo in "I got the news".
