The newly revised main trailer for J. Allen Williams' DARKSTAR - The Interactive Movie. Starring Clive Robertson, the original cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and narrated by Peter Graves, DARKSTAR is a tale of murder and deception with nothing less than the fate of humanity at stake. It is a race against time for one man and a quest to turn back time itself to write a new future for mankind.

  • This so RETRO, I actually like it, it makes me feel nostalgic :) ! Reminds me of Gabriel Knight 2, Ripper.

  • @Zli69 Thanks! The producer was sort-of going for the nostalgic feel.

  • What is the budget? How many hours of FMV are there in it?

  • @urbium There are over 13 hours of possible FMV in the game.

  • Parallax.. Make an interactive Babylon 5 Game!

  • @LaManoRapido We'll be sure to pass that on to J. Allen and Co-producer Mark Walters!

  • Just read the feature on this in this months gamesTM magazine. Hat off to you for persevering for 10 years on this

  • It reminds me of MYST and Return to Zork alot. I'll have to give it a try. I LOVE MST3K and Cinematic Titanic especially Joel and TV's Frank. I'm sure that it got some kind of following simply from the fans of the original 2006 trailers who probably went ape-shit saying "HOLY SH1T MYST STYLE GAMING IS BACK!?!?!?" Which was pretty much my original reaction. As for HD. Don't be such a graphics whore. Lots of games have looked stunning and turned out to be shit. *COUGH Mass Effect 2! *COUGH

  • My middle school band teacher was in this, she played F88 Pilot Lisa Hicks and her name was Libby Chappell. A commenter on here said this goes back to 2006 when I know for a fact it was around 2003 when she showed my class trailer (not this one) for the game and said it was near completion. This is the first time since then I've seen it, and sadly Libby Chappell has died since then. I didn't know the cast of MST3K was part of this. I hope for Libby's sake this gets some form of following.

  • was this rely made in 2009

  • @MikeTheShwa Trust me, there was no feet dragging in Darkstar... just a lot of development hell. lol You can find interviews of the guy going a far back as 2006 (I believe) talking about all the things happening and, eventually, all the stuff he had to do by himself.

  • @jg2904 They may be gem's of actors, it's too bad the programming came up short. Essentially it is a game, not a movie. If they didn't drag their feet and released it when the stuff was actually shot (you said 2004) I'm sure my comments would be different. The fact this is a 2011 game is the problem. Essentially it's a 7 year old game that was just released. 7 year old games sell in the bargain bins for $2.99 not $30.00.

  • @MikeTheShwa And the footage was shot on a fairly pricy camera, especially for the time. Most of the footage was I believe shot before 2004, which is why Darkstar isn't HD. They also had to deal with updating their software among other things. The negotiations with Rush cost them a lot of time and efforts, too. Personally, I think the new soundtrack kicks ass anyway... but, to each his/her own. At least you tried the game out.

  • @MikeTheShwa Okay, kudos on the hackintosh... I'm not tech savvy enough to pull that off, but I've a few friends that did and love it. I gotcha now. But as to your budget comments, did you not notice the cast in this game? Perhaps you might've noticed the entire original MST3K cast(now the Cinematic Titanic lot) who are prominently featured? Trace Beaulieu, Frank Conniff, J. Elvis Weinstein, Mary Jo Pehl? Not to mention the narration by the late Peter Graves (Airplane!, Mission: Impossible)?

  • Well I went out today on a mission to end all wars on earth. I was unsuccessful. Seeing as I "Tried" I guess that means you're going to throw me a parade?! I thought big, trying to end all the wars on earth and all, and even though I didn't succeed, I guess you should be thanking me and kissing my feet just for trying right? Wrong! I give credit where it's deserved, and it's not deserved here.
