Cary, NC- The Cary Academy SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapter is pleased to announce a Mock Car Crash at the Cary Academy Stadium on Wednesday May 20th. This dramatic and emotional event shows high school students the effects of drunk driving through a realistic re-enactment of a drunken car crash, involving police, fire, EMS and helicopter rescue. Students will experience a firsthand recording of the 911 call, and the reaction of the first responders. Actors in makeup will portray the injuries of the accident, as well as the drunk' driver being taken into custody. The dramatization will be preceded by a Jaws of Life' assembly with guest speakers, Christopher McGrath (RN, EMT, Carolina Air Care), Margaret Lunden (Police Force) and Lori Christian (wake county district judge) addressing the issues of injury prevention and making safe and good decisions.
The Cary Academy SADD chapter would like to express its complete and utmost gratitude to all the guest speakers, and emergency personnel who provide their time, resources and knowledge into this event. Without the help of the Cary Police, Fire and EMS rescue, as well as Carolina Air Care, this event would not be possible. The Cary Academy SADD chapter would also like to extend its highest gratitude to Mr. Chris McGrath, who has worked with the Cary Academy SADD chapter closely in organizing this event.
SADD (students against destructive decisions) is a national organization which recognizes the effects of bad decisions on the lives on young people, and believes that empowering students to help each other is the most powerful form of prevention. The Cary Academy chapter of SADD has upheld these values, and has been an important part of the Cary Academy community. SADD has previously held events and promotions to publicize the consequences of destructive decisions, as well as sponsoring alternative events for those interested. The Cary Academy SADD chapter is committed to the safety and well-being of the community, and continues to reach out to spread its message.
I'm quite for this type of thing, trying to example why it's bad. But I have to say this just looks like a huge waste of taxpayer's money.
