ComboFix and MalwareBytes Clean Your Malware Infected PC

If your PC is not acting right or running slow then it could be because of some virus or malware infection.

It won't hurt to run ComboFix and MalwareBytes on an uninfected PC so there is no reason not to clean with these programs as a precaution.

i've figured it out

for some odd reason combofix changed my HD from DMA mode to PIO mode

i had to make some registry tweaks to force it into DMA mode and now its all back to normal

but the system still hangs at the Shutdown for 10 minutes

before combofix , even with the rootkit on my system, Windows would shut down in 15 seconds or less

@1488slav I've never seen ComboFix do anything like that, but they do write a log of all changes which should help decipher what was done.

combofix got rid of my rootkit (windows xp sp3), but now everthing is so SLOW

even watching this youtube video has a stutter, and there is some static noise on the audio

games are unplayable, and when i go to shutdown windows, it stays at the shutdown screen for a good 10 minutes

i actually regret using this combofix shit

@1488slav ComboFix is top quality and, as you admit, did get rid of your rootkit. Rather than blame ComboFix I would suggest continuing to look for damage done to your computer by the rootkit you had; you may need to reload good drivers, etc.

Rootkits are of the worst type of infection your computer can get, sometimes it takes fixing and not just cleaning to get back to normal.

@PCRogerTV when i had the rootkit, malwarebytes was blocking access to random sites in germany and turkey from connecting

but my hard drive was working normally, no youtube stutter, no gaming stutter, now i can't even download faster than 3mb/s from microsoft or any site because the whole system slows down

this wasn't happening when i had the rootkit and malware was blocking access to sites

combofix changed something either DLLS or some hard drive drivers or whatever
