This is a Vid of my Vista EP with a boosterworks cam set-up.
Plane is a ARF from Tower Hobbies...Camera is the Booster Cam and has the HyGain Antennae on the receiver...It breaks up sometimes I guess because the antenna should be pointed right at the plane as it flies but nobody was doing that, also the camera has a built in transmitter of only 2mW...not much by FPV standards...My kid was videoing and the oncam view is in bottom corner..it was about 7pm EST low light..Cam was on a homemade holder with a pan servo on the 4th channel that is held on by rubber bands...works ok but now I have updated the setup with a piece of foam under the mount and used rubber grommets and foam to isolate the motor..better but I am getting a new cam setup with more power and better resolution.. the boosterworks is only 380 lines..the new one is 420 lines..I'll put up more vids as I go..
I recommend taking the motor out of this kit and reinforcing the motor wall and all the front bulkheads as the glue used in the kit is not very good..a crash or two and the "pieces fly"
If you hit hard on the nose the battery goes right through the bulk heads and takes out everything in its path...first bad hit I had the battery drove the motor right out the front mount..hey balsa and hardwood ..just fix it..a lot easier that the multiplex easy glider that still sits on the bench ..The company boasts that it just glues back together..not If the "EVapor foam squishes together and distorts were the motor fits..(New Fuselage..$40plus).. easy I guess if you want to spend money..
I talked to them via e-mails and they said it was ME..funny my Vista works...repairs easy too.!
I just Don't like Foam..not forgiving...
..I used a servo rubber mount that I cut the flat ends off and it works perfect for remounting and isolating the motor for vibrations..a piece of foam under the motor keeps the vibes from going through the plane too..just make sure you don't block the air flow..motor needs air..!

  • youre not supposed to point the ant. at the plane because the tip of the antenna is a dead zone.

  • I too as an owner of two radian pros am coming around to balsa planes. My buddy has a vista and the design and stiffness are better overall than foam gliders. Foam flies great IF you can keep it out of crashes. Had I know about the Vista (or spectra or spirit)earlier I would have bought one(have a vista on order now)instead of 'RE' trying an R Pro with different mods. The Rpros cost more and are flimsy out of the box. many mods to both of mine to get them to fly well. Vista is a better plane.

  • I just ordered the Vista.

At $60 it seems like a bargain.

How do you like the plane itself?

    And nice vid too...

  • Cool video, I liked it. It would have been nice to see your setup but with the info you gave I can visualize it pretty well. A tip for fixing squished foam, heat with a hair dryer or a pot of 160-180 degree water (keep heating more until the foam relaxes to the original shape) and soak the pieces for a few minutes, and you're done, but I still like balsa more too.
