A narrated PowerPoint picture-book presentation of LA LLORONA (The Wailing Woman). She is a well-known specter from the Chicano/Latino storytelling tradition. Parents tell this story to their children so they'll stay away from the river at night and won't drown. The version you are about to hear was told to my dad by his parents. It's from his book MEXICAN GHOST TALES OF THE SOUTHWEST (Arte Publico Press, 1994). Text is provided so that children and ESL students can read along.
