All you have to do is open a window or door and the bat will eventually leave. We live near a wetlands and they get in the house all the time. They always find their way out.
@sluggoweezul well, if it wasn't snowing outside that would have been the obvious option. (also, storm windows are in and plastic draft seals are up, so the windows don't open until spring). The game warden came and took it away because there is probably something wrong with it. Bats are supposed to be hibernating right now, especially on a cold day like this. He said that something has been wrong with the bats recently, so he'll be calling me tomorrow.
