http://www.apptorial.com This video will show you how you can avoid having long URLs in iWeb. The process is quite simple. The long URLs occur when we publish using iWeb. In this video, I will show you how to shorten the URL by publishing to Cyberduck or iWeb SEO Tool.

  • At 4:06 when you open your website into this program on the right it shows Analysitcs Code and a whole code however mine says Head code and then footer code underneath and theres no code. ? What wrong here?

  • @Melbell101 This is because the version of iWeb SEO Tool in this video is now an older version. That part isn't relevant to the point of the video though so don't worry.

  • @AppTorial Oh ok i see so when you are done that then what do you do after? You never said do you need to click the publish in the right corner? if so to ftp than?

  • @Melbell101 Yes you need to publish your site. You can do this within iWeb SEO Tool by clicking the publish button.

  • Your videos are amazing and extremely helpful... thanks! One question I have though, and this is going to show how much of a newbie I am: are you then hosting to MobileMe? Or are you using something like GoDaddy as a hosting service?

And, if you wouldn't mind, which of those do you think is preferred (MobileMe vs. another hosting service, like GoDaddy)? Thanks again for your time and willingness to share your knowledge through videos that are so well produced and articulated. :)

  • @wigsforfunkc I personally do not recommend using MobileMe for hosting a website - especially if it's a business website. I think any business website NEEDS to use its own domain name, and use a professional hosting company. For iWeb users, I recommend RAGE Webhosting (same company that makes iWeb SEO Tool.) The reason I recommend them is because they are the only hosting company (that I know of) who specializes in iWeb - a one stop iWeb Shop.

  • @AppTorial hey, i put my folder on my finder, and my url is crazy long still. help

  • this is so helpful, I really appreciate it.

  • I use SEO to publish one folder inside the folder that IWEB published the site, however RSS feed is not working properly and all other 2 files (asset file and index file) did not publish, how do I over come this issue?

  • this does not work. URL's are still long

  • this sounds great but i couldnt get it to work :( where have i gone wrong ?

  • Do I have to publish to a folder first when publishing to GoDaddy? When using iWeb, I have to use Dropbox so I can access my site from multiple computers. So, I have my domain file in Dropbox already. Do I still publish to a folder with IWeb and then publish with IWeb SEO? I'm using IWeb SEO already for Google and StatCounter codes.

  • will selecting this new shortcut hurt links; making one have to go in and change all links or does clicking on the 'long url' links still manage to end up at the shorties destination?

  • didn't remove the folder name
