This short inter-tribal educational piece was created with longtime activist and Lakota elder, Debra White Plume, of www.bringbacktheway.com. The piece is used to inform tribal members and the general public about the poisoning of vast aquifers underlying several states by uranium mining. She and her husband, Alex White Plume, are working to inform the Indian and non-Indian populous about the dangers that are presently threatening their lands, lives, and families. Debra White Plume, empowering the Oglala Sioux to take a stand against further Uranium mining, narrates this project. The Lakota peoples water supplies and health have been severely affected by past mining. Over eighty wells have been capped in their already arid reservation. The incident of many diseases and birth defects linked to mining toxics has increased alarmingly in relation to past mining projects. These people wish to be heard. They want to put a moratorium on further uranium mining in their Sacred Lands, the Black Hills of South Dakota.

I have seen...Pine Ridge in 2010..... we all must do something within our reach,

The Right to Life and Freedom on Stolen Land.

Government should go to drink water and to celebrate.. hypocritical" Thanksgiving" in the rez... my opinion.

    Nature First.

  • Washington give back the land to it's rightful guardians!

  • This is beyond sad & absolutely chilling! I am from the mountains of W.Va. & the mountains are being cut off. Destroyed. The water is being contaminated by the mine companies that are taking 'short cuts'. (This is different, I know. I'm saying this to let you know I have solidarity with your condition as much as I can.)The land & the waters are ours to take care of. We aren't doing this.I respect your info & your video. Thank you! I will be contacting someone, perhaps below. I am so sorry!Moppet
