Project Nim is a most important film with a very important message. Follow Nim's strange journey through human culture in this amusing, entertaining, and ultimately heartbreaking documentary.
The Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary VIP (Very Important Primate) Jungle Jamboree at the Hippodrome was a huge success! the Jamboree was opening night of 'Project Nim'. Our special guests were the real-life "cast" of Nim's story, including... Bob Ingersoll, the "hero" who was instrumental in rescuing Nim from research; Renee Falitz, Nim's first sign language teacher; and Elizabeth Hess, author of Nim Chimpsky, The Chimp Who Would Be Human that inspired the film.
Following several of the showings, Bob Ingersoll led a discussion about this thought-provoking film, and answered questions about his experiences with Nim. Bob befriended Nim at the Institute for Primate Studies, and was instrumental in Nim's rescue.
Bob was our guest at Jungle Friends during his stay in Gainesville.Original works of art created by the monkeys at Jungle Friends will be on display at the Hipp for two weeks. Monkey Art was on display during the screening and we held an Auction Opening Night at the Jungle Jamboree.
