GLOBAL WARMING: THE MALDIVES SOLAR FLOATING RESORT SET GOOD EXAMPLE.
The tiny island nation of the Maldives is under serious threat from rising sea levels caused by climate change. No part of the 1200 islands which make up the Maldives is more than six feet above sea level, so as sea-levels rise (as they will if rampant climate change is not stopped), the entire nation will be under water. Because of this, the Maldives government is pulling out all the stops in the fight against climate change. Not only has the entire country gone carbon neutral, educated all of their children in environmental science and furiously built retaining walls around every island, but the government is buying up land in nearby nations as a place to retreat to when the Maldives disappears. Now it appears that the intrepid Maldivians have come up with a new strategy to fight the rising tide: creating mini floating islands!
Based on the above, Italian Designer Michele Puzzolante (MPD Designs) has come up with a new Green Luxury Hospitality concept named the Solar Island Resort that is totally self-sufficient energy generator and use solar energy as sole source of power.

That looks pretty amazing, and attainable. I'm curious about one thing, tho...what is the plan for sewage disposal?

Good question. The SFR is meant to park in a Island Resort Marina and the sewage will be handled by the crew. There are tanks that collect the used waters and when the SFR goes back to the marina the crew will take care of it as well as the cleaning of the entire SFR, refill of fresh water, etc...The same should happen in case of owernship of a SFR.

Love everything about it, concept is great, and sustainable design is highly integrated, yet how about MPD considers harvesting wastewater installation to close the cycle of water into full loop. Thus the organic waste and greywater will be cleaned on the spot, and only recyclable waste will be taken out of the pod. I have designed plenty of green wastewater systems, if you need more information or help. Again, Great design, cant wait to come to the market!

There are excellent systems available for sewage treatment and meeting the highest standards worldwide. Mostly used on super yachts but certainly also usable for this purpose. Inform yourself at the proper business and learn more about it. It will benefit the chance of success for this project. BTW; interesting concept..... price of US$ 1.8 mil. seems to be interesting too. Good luck with it.

Soon you will be able to rent the SFR as part of a Island Resort or to buy one for you. In any case the SFR experience is meant to fit any budget from $3000 per day for 6 persons to $ 1,800.000.00 in case of aquisition.
