Lead Acid Battery Reconstruction 1

This didn't work. It is just an experiment. It is not a howto. Reconstruction looks difficult to me.

The sulphuric acid inside is corrosive. Avoid skin contact.

Interesting quote of his: "When a lead acid battery dies you can bet it's the positive plates that are at fault especially if it has pasted positive plates. Anodic corrosion will eventually break down the positive plate grids leading to reduced capacity and eventual failure.
Oxides recovered from the corroded positive plates can be used to make paste for new plates.
However the negative plates will usually be in almost perfect condition although they maybe have a little sulfation.
The negative plates can be used to form a new cell. This means from the 6 cells in a 12 volt battery you can recover 3 working cells."

Me:
I might do six simple two plate cells of lesser size than the one I dismantled here, if I can extract 12 good pieces of lead sheet from the 36 or more plates, which I found inside. If I do, I'll post another video. Maybe I can melt a shape out of those bridges to melt onto the plates and then solder a lead jumper from one to the next to make six cells. Copper wire will corrode.

Nice vid...Any.idea how to generate lead oxide. I'm interested in making lead acid batterys. Lead is simple, battery acid is OK. But lead oxide ? Any advise ? Regards Bob

@magna59 The link in the description mentioned that two lead plates in dilute sulphuric acid can be attached to a DC voltage source and one plate will generate a lead oxide coating. Repeating the charge and discharge will improve the lead oxide region.

This is an interesting experiment to study how batteries are made, and how they age and I attempt to remake a smaller useful battery. I am not instructing you how to repair a battery back to full life.

ya I wouldn't be touching that stuff, but I do applaud your curiosity. any one willing to take stuff apart and see for them selves what is going on instead of just e reading about it is cool in my book. remove all plates and good negative plates make them join one another and there is new lead acid battery 1 problem is that only old batteries 12 volt reduces to6 may be less corroded plates positive melt them and make ingots and sell them for good money good luck bye
