http://ScottThom.com is a big fan of pullups and understand how hard they can be. These three exercises will improve your pullups whether you're a novice or someone who can bust out 3 sets of 25, never be satisfied you can always do better! The first exercise is "Band Pullups" in which I use a "super band" to help me with the exercise. You can buy these bands at http://www.performbetter.com/mfpbCat0Landing.aspx_Q_CategoryID_E_281 they are a must if you aren't very strong at pullups. The second exercise is "Negative Pullups" in which you use a box or platform, propel yourself up and lower yourself slowly (doing the eccentric part of the exercise), you can also throw these in at the end of your back workout to really kill those lats!!!! Lastly is a more advanced exercise and should be done by those who are already strong at pullups, "Weighted Pullups". Grab a "weighted belt" that allows you to use a dumbbell or kettlebell, loop it through and pump those pullups out!!!!   • A good way to increase pullup numbers. Do 1 REST Do 2 REST Do 3 REST Do 4 REST Do 5 REST...etc as high as you can go

  • @clarkdef Get to a doc to see if there's any permanent damage. Physical therapy might be needed.

  • Guys is it more effective to do negative pull ups, or just assisted pull ups (with a chair a little far from u)? i can do a few pull ups (like 5) but then I'll get more tired so I can't do many reps.. I am doing p90x and I was wondering which way is best for me to get the necessary strength to do pull ups.

  • @HynoticPrime Im with you here I wish I could do just 1 LOL. I do incline pull ups though atm. Theres some videos on youtube about it. you find any other information on it?

    i mean i work out on the regular, but my lats are like the weakest part of my body and i can barely do 4 pull ups, can anyone tell me how to get started on how to increase reps???
