This is a horror/suspense genre movie I made for my final video project in high school. This was an ambitious movie, combining a long and complex story and backstory with "groundbreaking" (for me) special effects. Because of time constraints, there are many small mistakes throughout the movie, and the special effects (CGI using the program Paint and Final Cut Pro) are often very cheesy, almost laughable. But the story I thought was very intriguing, almost worthy of a rewrite for a longer full length film, and the music (taken almost entirely from video games) fits in excellent, giving the movie a very eerie and creepy ambience. The acting isn't the greatest, mostly my fault as the director, as we shot much of it out of order and out of context (I didn't explain the scenes well, and most of the actors didn't have time to study the screenplay). However, the fact that we managed to put all our styles together and come up with an hour long, cinematography and effect driven movie, with an interesting story, should be something to be proud of. We finished this entire movie in 1 week (filming, edititing, and producing), working day and night to do so.

I won't explain the plot to the movie, being a suspense, but the basic idea is that a group of friends explore a haunted house with an evil past, as that past comes back to make life miserable for them, even threaten it. When they discover the source of the paranormal activity, they discover something far more evil then they could have imagined.

  • Wonder how you guys got that inverted pentagram printed on that book. :)

  • Richard made a fake book cover and drew it with marker. It was kind of funny because everyone was all uneasy about it since it looked so creepy.

  • Well if you ask me, I do think he did a brilliant job. I'm a drawer myself but I'm not very good at drawing a perfect circle....

  • Yeah, he is a great artist.

  • I had no idea you had Morrowind music on these videos! I used to play that game for the PC! Oh, I enjoyed hearing some of their music.........:)

  • Yeah, I was trying to find good music for the soundtrack of this movie, music without lyrics. I found this website where they have like thousands of complete soundtracks from video games. For little amateur movies like this, it works really well. The other game I took a lot of music for is "Clocktower 3" (I've never heard of it, but the music was creepy so I used it). Morrowind has incredible music (not scary, but just good). The new game of it is even better with music.

  • Thanks. Its funny, I've never even played that game but I found the music really good. Actually, I think most of the music in this movie is from various video games (I stumbled upon this website with a giant archive of almost every piece of music from every game). It was so hard to get good music for this movie, as its very difficult making scary music using Soundtrack Pro loops (although I did it for "Non-Compos Mentis"), but the music I found worked out great.
