I have this precise recording on my computer that I put on here from a mixed cd a dear friend gave to me - but no track names or artists! I knew this piece immediately, and have been searching for over a year now to find who the vocalist is ... and it's none other then Virginia Zeani! Well, well, well! I must say, it was worth the search - instant fan right here. Brava!

Violetta was Zeani's signature role, which she performed 648 times! She is vocal perfection, and how gorgeous can one woman be!
Listen to the clear diction, accompanied by emotion. Lovely phrasing, wonderful acting! Verdi would be thrilled! I am!!! Gioia!

I grew up on an old version of Traviata that was recorded somewhere in Eastern Europe and Zeani was the Traviata. After a childhood of being obsessed with Callas, she was my next great revelation and she lived up to it in every role that I ever heard her in. She went on to be one of the greatest voice teachers in history. This is a lesson in singing. 5/5
