60 MPH = 30 MPG with the 2.3-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder and a 5-speed manual transmission. It's not fast, but good enough and gets great mileage.

It gets mid-30s if you go ~55 but that is hard to do in the city where I live -- backs up traffic and annoys people when the semis have to pull out and pass.

Official EPA ratings are 22/27 MPG

  • Really wish this was the 4.0L V-6 and 4x4 automatic.... Hahaha! :p

  • I have never gotten less than 24 in my 2002 2.3 5 speed standard cab short bed styleside.

  • I got 30.93 on a winter trip with my 04 5-speed longbed. No cruise control. Speed varied from 55 to 70. No bedcover, no drafting behind semis and I had a snowblower in the back on the way home. I filled up at the same pump at the start of the trip and at the end of the trip. I have yet to test my 09 on a highway trip. Its identical to my 04: 2.3 2wd manual 5 speed longbed with a.c. and its white. I have twins.

  • just got the automatic, 26highway easy 55-60 tho.

  • im going to get one of these in a few weeks more than likely
