Comparing no exhaust (stock exhaust was chopped before the first of 3 mufflers, right after the Y around the tank) to my custom 2.5" all stainless mandrel bent true duals with Magnaflow X-pipe and pair of Magnaflow 18" ovals.
5HP increase across entire rpm range and peak of 15HP and 25TQ (200HP up from 185HP)
Only catch is 3rd gear pulls aren't full as Chrysler forces an upshift into 4th at 5500rpm (peak power is 6500rpm)

MW 2002: Chrysler 300m Special Road Test

in yourube to see the video.

  • Great Video! Thanks for pointing it out!

I sure wish mine was that fast but at nearly 300,000 kms

I'm glad she still hugs the road nicely :)

  • well that sucks. Hopefully you'll get that fixed. I'm thinking about going down to the track and test the speed for fun. It's supposed to do high 14's stock and 0-60 in the 7 second range. yeah, 255 is stock and 258 for torqwue i think it is but with ym exhaust change im sure i get an extra 5-10 hp and then with the cold air intak coming I think another 8-10 hp isn't unresonable.

I wonder how those electric turbos work haha turns the fan at 26,000 rpm and gives you up to 2 psi.

  • i don't know where you got your info from but Ms are not 14 second cars.

Stock base model runs 16.0-16.2 and the Special runs 15.6-15.8

    Car & Driver i believe got theirs going 15.6 @ 88 mph

Most modified Ms run mid-low 15s.

I highly modified one (not counting nitrous of course) runs 14.6 @ 91 with Prowler gearing, weight reduction and all sorts of other mods.

I just found someone else that dyno'd theirs stock at 172HP which sounds about right for the base model.

    I think you'll run around 15.5

  • as if! they lose that much power from the engine to the wheels, thats crazy!

because i do know the engine does 260, not chassied though.

the cars so 0-70 in first, 70-140 in second and i've had mine to 180 in third doing 5,000 rpm. i have a video in my account showing me going to 140 in second.

i cant believe they lose that much, thats unreal, they move so well. my impala had 180 hp and this car had much more power, torque and speed than my impala did. sad times in the maritimes :o(

  • yes that's right, about 0-75 1st, 75-135 2nd, 135-180 3rd, then 235 in 4th.

my speedo isn't accurate, so i used several GPSs and my permanently installed ScanGaugeII.

the stock M is 253HP and the Special is 255HP with just a few more on the torque.

the difference is the gearing and trans programming.

mine also has an issue with 1st gear, the computer is pulling back all my power.

my 1/4 times are horrible (high 15, low 16) but yet i trap 91 mph like a high 14s car.

    i hate torque management!

  • @85merk THANK YOU. Finally someone gets it. My friend has an 04 and he's lost to me in my CTS. i was surprised because I figured... 250hp vs 220hp, car should smoke me, but I found out transmission drivetrain loss was abnormally high. Every M owner I've run into, aside from my friend of whom I've beaten, AND of whom I've helped repair his car after his ex damaged the front end, has NOT BELIEVED that these cars will run mid to high 15s stock.

  • I thought my 220,000 km on my 2002 was planty haha but you have 300,000 wow, thats great. original tranny and engine? engines are almost impossible to kill but they have the typical dodge tranny which are know for problems. i just hadone put in last fall at 200,000 km's. most (90%+) is original on my car, it was never winter driven except for last winter which but i just got it diamond coated last week-end just to be safe. im looking for a 1/4 tonne or 4x4 jeep for the winter.

  • I meant to put 15.9 not 14.9, sorry.

    I just watched a video

    They did 0-100 kph in 7.2 and 1/4 in 15.5 @ 91mph stock.
