This is a Scottish Smallpipe tune, using the A chanter and D drones and a high B key. I teach the tune and then play along with some accompaniment. I enjoyed writing the extra flute part, but it is a bit cheesey? You can find the dots for the tune here on our website: http://homepage.mac.com/smallpiper/site/thumbtwiddling/Bell_Set.jpg
The sound seemed to get slightly out of synch, sorry about that!
I'll try harder next time!
:)

  • Your best bet would be to go to the maker of your pipes. They'd have the best handle on adding keywork to their pipes. Mine was made with the high B key and has the extra block needed to fix the key to the chanter. The block was carved into the piece of wood when it was made, it's part of the chanter, so not something that is attached to the chanter afterwards. I'm not sure how easy it is to add keys if there is no block already on the pipes.

  • hi very nice have just bought a set of small pipes myself allso play bagpipes but love the sound of small pipes

  • Nah, the flute part isn't cheesy; maybe on a clarinet it would be cheesy. I thought it was a lovely addition to this tune.

  • this is a wonderful tune I wish I could play it on my highland pipes but since I don't have the high B it wouldn't sound right

  • wow a really nice piece off music i really enjoyed watching it with the flute accompanient

  • Beautiful tune, I'll be playing this on Uilleann pipes.
