Wings of War - Making a Simple Range Stick

How to make a simple Wings of War range measuring tool.

Things you will need:
- Original WoW cardboard measuring stick
- Fast food wooden chop sticks
- Medium to fine grit sand paper (small piece or scrap)
- A small hand saw
- A pencil (#2 is a classic choice, HB if you are Euro.)
- A fine tip black pen (roller ball or felt)
- Colored pencils
- A paper towel

Instructions:

1) Carefully snap apart the chop sticks trying to create a nice even break. Take one of the chop sticks, and place it next to the WoW cardboard measure stick. Mark on the chopstick with the pencil the mid point and any excess if the chopstick is too long.

2) Saw off the excess. A gentle touch here is required. Remember it is easier to take away length but you cannot easily add it back once gone. Error on the side of too long with your cut.

3) Check the marks next to the original range measuring stick again. If you still have a little bit of excess from the cut, sand down the end, until you have a very close to exact match.

4) Sand the chopstick surfaces making it smooth and nice.

5) Mark the midpoint again. This time carefully mark with the pencil all the way around the stick.

6) Now use your black pen and nicely darken the mid point with a fine black ink line.

7) Color one half of the stick using the colored pencil of your choice. I've used reds and an orange in my example. Color until the whole half of the stick is colored in. Be careful around the black line.

8) Use the paper towel to buff off the excess colored pencil. Rub away from the black center line. Continue to buff off the excess until very little stain is left on the paper towel when rubbing.

9) Compare with original WoW measuring stick and see how you did.

10) Play Wings of War.
