« Being, Women »

According to Georges Bataille, the death to live is an experience, a mysterious process.
Pain, defiance, silence, eroticism; it is life penetrating death; the absolute intimacy is the subject of "Being women". Particularly for women, life becomes infinite through eroticism and maternity. As a photographer, I try to record a process of encounter, to reveal a moment of communication, and a forgetting of oneself for the other. My eyes reflect men and now, especially women of today. In this project "Being women", the female form is an image above all. She poses in a room, a studio, any place where she is composed of intimacy, reminiscence and reflection. I want to recount female emotion... What is this bounding force that unifies the female with this sentiment of solitude? Her universe where she dwells, where we live, where lives a fear of loneliness...
Woman- sculptured to the regimen of society, dependent on it still. She gives life, and gives up immeasurable things for a life with another. The alienation between men, the solitude of everyday life, the pain, the disappointment... But the light is there, unpredictable, hidden in all. The beauty in life, the way that Egon Schiele represents it through the suffering of man, or the solitude and abandonment seen in Edward Hoppers painting. "Being Women" in the beginning of « memento mori », the desire to discover my identity as a human being. By working with these women I want to witness their evolution in todays world. These images of women are above all a silent representation of their expressions which suppose a fear of emptiness. Since, we are alone in the universe.

O pain! O pain.
Time eats life and obscure enemy
that gnaws at our hearts the blood
we lose grows and strengthens
- Les fleurs du mal, Baudelaire
