  • @etstop1 Context. Some people are clients, some are not. It's obvious Jantzen is not. Draper sees the stagnation in their limited vision. Not to mention that there are issues under the surface regarding his leadership...or lack thereof prior to this scene and there were serious questions about Don's ability to run the company. He needed to take the bull by the horns and he did. It was essentially worth burning this bridge. They were not going to budge anyway and he knew it.

  • This makes for good television, but this is an AWFUL way to run a business. Yes, you want to be confident, but Draper is such an asshole that he would get a very bad reputation.

#1 rule of business; Make the client happy. Dictating to them your opinions is so stupid.

  • I have wanted to do this time and time again when selling mortgages and at signing someone says, "well I think the rates have gone down and we want to wait." Man oh man would I have love to have done that, and said,"Get your stuff and get out, now!"

  • @djs259 I tell you what, knowing what I know now, I should have.

  • @nwjones1 y didn't u?

  • I wanted to do this so many times when I sold fork lifts.

  • The thing is, Don's 100% right here. These dudes sell BATHING SUITS. If you're not willing to be a little sexy and suggestive, your competitors (who are more than willing to do so) are going to crush you. I mean, sex doesn't ALWAYS sell, but don't be an idiot. Bathing suits are a sexual product in nature. If you're not willing to embrace that, get out of the game.

  • Don's great, but he's being a bit of a, uh, dick here. Those nice (if prudish) folks from 1964 Portland didn't deserve his New York Hip snit.

  • GO ON, LET'S GO! (SNAP, SNAP) I love it!
