Yes it should be banned. The whole psychology field needs to be overhauled.

My grandpa had electroshock treatments for a number of years and it didn't do him any good.
In fact, I'm pretty sure it made him worse. It should be banned.

Sorry, Carrie Fisher is an American actress who publicly admitted that ECT was a godsend for her bipolar disorder. Until recently, there are OTC and prescribed drugs for which the method of action is unknown. Top of my head, Tinactin label "method of action unknown." Oh well, if it were my last hope and I had health insurance, I would take ECT.

@jconrad1366 Claiming Equality Act of Great Britain negates right of belief? Mss, Miss, Mrs whomever is entitled to a view, but their is no cure, no method of action... Keep to the science, not to a personal opinion. Take the treatment.
-
@Leesome1 I believe that Carrie Fisher would disagree with your arguments.

@jconrad1366 ECT is a no cure, no method of action dosage... My belief. The Equality Act 2010 (UK).
-
@Leesome1 Um, I don't require the treatment, my ADs are doing the job quite nicely. Why are your counterpoints so off the point and fallacious?
-
@jconrad1366 Nothing funny about ECT. Nothing funny about passing life. Death when from man made interference is never from my view of the world funny. Funny old game, survival.
-
@Leesome1 You know, the funny thing is that if this treatment doesn't kill the Pt and perhaps had no therapeutic value the death part, hmmm I love your altruistic compassion, the Pt would end up committing suicide anyway. Ever heard of "Scylla and Charybdis?

@jconrad1366 Take the treatment and tell that to the dead, maybe you could join them?

@SuperSpg123 If you adjust the voltage to amps ratio will that satisfy your want declare amps the focus of your concern. Either way the maths works out at watts of is a measure of heat and that is satis to damage brain tissue. Add the saline solution of a brain and up goes the wattage and heat of all able to attain is very concentrated and then is time. ECT cannot be safe, show us the electrical maths doc.

For some people who do not tolerate AD medications, ECT is a godsend. It is not like it was 20-50 yrs ago. I have actually witnessed the procedure and because of the succinyl choline/caffeine injections, it quite humane. Not the old thrashing seizure, just one arm to time the seizure. Not for everyone but really does help the few who need it.
Amperage not voltage determines the danger posed by an electrical current, therefore your argument about the danger put out by an ECT machine is moot. just saying.

@SuperSpg123 Let's simplify, shall we? Electroconvulsive "therapy" is strong enough to cause patients to fracture spines and break bones if a muscle relaxant isn't administered. That's the whole reason they give muscle relaxants, so patients no longer fracture themselves convulsing. Does that clarify it for you?
